Milestones On The Road To Innovation
1987
Waycon was established by Dave Adaway and John O’Connell. The company’s initial equipment acquisition included a used lathe and milling machine. These machines were operated by the owners themselves in a leased 1,000 square foot facility.
1988
Waycon secured its first significant contract with Toyota. The company was responsible for machining stalks used in Toyota’s wheel manufacturing process. Over the years, Waycon produced thousands of these units. However, the contract came to an end when Toyota introduced plastic as a replacement for metal.
1990
Waycon begins manufacturing excavator conversions, guarding packages, and attachments for Woodland Equipment. This would be the start of a strong and loyal business relationship.
1992
Waycon achieved CWB certification, demonstrating its commitment to quality and adherence to industry standards. Presently, Waycon holds CWB certification in CSA 47.1 for fusion welding of steel and CSA 47.2 for fusion welding of aluminum.
2000
Waycon relocated to its current location at 275 Waterloo Ave, since then doubling its operational space.
2010
Waycon secured a contract from NOV Inc. to manufacture pipe handling systems, skids, and deadline anchors. The company successfully produced numerous units to meet the demands of the contract.
2013
Waycon was awarded a contract for the structural engineering, manufacturing, and installation of the first two CHIME telescopes for the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment (CHIME).
2016
Waycon has its Forestry Cab OSHA certified which opened the door to a partnership with Sennebogen. A Forestry Cab, plug and play setup, easy install, and bolts directly to the factory cab platform.
2019
Waycon invested in cutting-edge machinery, including a Haas 4 Axis Horizontal Boring Machine Centre and a CNC Brake Press. Additionally, the company was honored with the prestigious Innovation Excellence Award, recognizing its commitment to technological advancement.
2022
Waycon proudly celebrated its 35th anniversary, marking three and a half decades of providing exceptional manufacturing solutions.
2024
Waycon further enhanced its manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of its largest CNC machine to date, the Doosan DBC110-II Horizontal Boring Machine. This impressive machine boasts a table capacity of 22,046 lbs.
