Estimator 

Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Manufacturing Estimator with a strong technical background in mechanical engineering, industrial manufacturing, machining, and fabrication. This role requires a detailoriented professional capable of accurately estimating complex, engineered-to-order industrial projects while building and maintaining strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate brings an established network within industrial sectors such as industrial processing, mining, energy, and heavy manufacturing, along with deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to work directly with clients from concept through delivery.

This is a clientfacing, highimpact role that combines technical expertise with strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Duties
  • Prepare accurate, timely, and competitive estimates for custom metal fabrication projects;
  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and RFQs to produce detailed cost breakdowns;
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, procurement to validate material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor requirements;
  • Evaluate project risks and provide valueengineering and costsaving recommendations;
  • Update and manage cost databases, pricing tools, and historical cost libraries.
  • Act as a primary client-facing representative for estimating, technical discussions, and project scoping;
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing industry partners across diversified industrial sectors;
  • Meet with clients to review concepts, clarify requirements, and provide expert guidance on technical feasibility and manufacturing options;
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, and supporting documentation that clearly convey scope, pricing, and project deliverables;
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure estimates align with manufacturing capabilities, capacity, and timelines.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related discipline;
  • Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in machining, fabrication, heavy industrial manufacturing, or mechanical engineering environments;
  • Strong understanding of machining tolerances, fabrication standards, welding processes, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment;
  • Proven ability to estimate custom, engineered, or complex industrial projects;
  • Established network and relationships within industrial sectors;
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly and confidently;
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary project scopes (mechanical, structural, process).
